Although the admission process is similar across the entire network, each conservatory has its own particularities and auditions dates. Consult the Auditions page to learn all the details specific to each conservatory.
Admission to the Conservatoire is based on an audition and available spots. To be eligible, applicants must have the necessary skills to meet the requirements of the Performance, Scenography or Stage Direction and Artistic Creation programs.
For more information about the auditions dates and requirements, visit the Auditions page.
Using the Omnivox web portal, applicants must submit an application for admission to the Conservatoire and attach all the required documents before the deadline established by the dramatic arts conservatories.
When submitting an application for admission, applicants are required to pay a non-refundable $50 application fee with a credit card or a prepaid card.
For the Performance program, in both the Montréal and Québec City conservatories, the audition process extends over a long period of time; a certain number of applicants are selected at each step, until about a dozen are admitted. Visit the Auditions page to find out about the dates of this process.
The admission test for the Scenography program involves a one-day internship where applicants are required to complete drawing and design exercises based on a short theatrical text in order to show their potential.
The next auditions for the Stage Direction and Artistic Creation program will be held in spring 2023.
After the auditions, the Conservatoire informs applicants of their eligibility. The results are announced via the Omnivox web portal.
Between the end of May and the middle of June, eligible applicants are informed of whether they have been admitted or placed on a waiting list. If they are admitted, the Conservatoire will send them the documents and information relating to tuition and registration.
Applicants who are admitted to the Conservatoire must register by filling out the electronic registration form and paying registration and other fees, before the deadline established by their conservatory. One registered, applicants become “students” and therefore agree to comply with the rules of the institution, including those related to education and discipline.
